VISIONS OF THE FUTURE
Ever since splitting the atom, progress has always somewhat depended on the art of cut and paste, from modern biotechnology to fashion. Damien Blottière celebrates this idea in a photo editorial for the "decades issue” of VMAN
Entitled “2020s – The Shape of Things To Come”, it instantly projects you ten years into the future of fashion via the pages of VMAN magazine issue 24.
Charging to the battle cry of “Don’t fight the future, cut and paste it!”, art director Damien Blottière and fashion editor Tom Van Dorpe let loose chopping up and rearranging the photos of 7 Ford agency models, dressed in Paul Smith, Lanvin, Calvin Klein, Ermenegildo Zegna and other famous brands.
Dissected faces that are juxtaposed, meshed and become one with the garments worn, in a sort of cubist vision that not only deconstructs the visual elements, abstaining from direct representation, but also seems to invite us to behold the future of fashion with the eye of a curious bricoleur.
And while on the subject of curiosity, for those that are yet unsatisfied, Damien Blottière’s fashion shoot is also a video, available here in its trailer version and visible in its entirety only on Ipad
